Privacy notice
In short: we keep only your email address, to tell you when GloveBox launches. We don't share it, we don't use cookies or tracking, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
GloveBox is run by Jason Garvey in Ireland. Jason is the controller of your data. Contact: [email protected].
What we keep
- Your email address.
- The date and time you signed up, and which version of the consent wording you agreed to, so we can show you agreed.
That's all. No name, no phone number, no cookies, no analytics or advertising trackers. To stop spam sign-ups we work out a scrambled, one-way code from your internet connection's address and keep it for about two hours. We never store the address itself.
Why we keep it
Only to email you when GloveBox launches on iPhone and Android. We won't send newsletters or marketing, and we never sell or share your address.
Our lawful basis
Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR), given when you tick the box. You can withdraw it at any time; that doesn't affect anything we did before.
Where it's stored
On Cloudflare, our hosting provider, in a database restricted to the European Union. Cloudflare processes it only on our instructions. If any handling happens outside the EU (for example, support), Cloudflare is covered by the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
Until we send the launch email, then we delete the list within 30 days. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address before then, we'll do it within 30 days at the latest, usually much sooner.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw your consent. Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with. The launch email will also have an unsubscribe link.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie.
GloveBox Community (ideas and votes)
Community in the app lets you suggest features and vote. It's optional: nothing is sent until you open Community. After that, the app checks now and then whether ideas you voted for have shipped, so it can tell you on the Home screen.
- What you post: the title and description of your idea, shown publicly once the GloveBox team approves it. Please don't put personal details in them.
- Your nickname, only if you give one: it's never shown next to your idea. If your idea ships, the "Built from your idea" thanks shows your nickname only if you ticked "Credit me by nickname if this ships" (unticked unless you tick it). Otherwise it says "a GloveBox driver". We keep the wording you ticked.
- Your device code: the app makes a random code on your phone (not linked to your name, phone number or car). It lets you vote once per idea, see your own ideas while they wait for review, and delete them. We store only a scrambled, one-way version of it.
- Your email, only if you give it and tick the box, to tell you when your idea ships. It's never shown publicly. We delete it when you delete your posts, or when you ask.
- Spam protection: the same scrambled code from your internet connection's address as above, kept for about two hours. Never the address itself.
Thank-you gift address
If your idea ships, we may email you a private one-time link to a gift page where you can send us your name, postal address and Eircode.
- Only the GloveBox team sees it, on a password-protected admin page. It's never shown in the app, on the Community board or to other users, and we use it only to post your gift.
- Deleted within 30 days: we delete it as soon as the gift is posted, and automatically 30 days after you send it at the latest. An unused link stops working after 30 days. Our database host keeps automatic recovery copies for up to 7 more days, then they're gone too.
- No cookies or tracking on the gift page: it sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts, fonts or images. Your link isn't passed on to other sites.
Thank-you gifts are at the GloveBox team's discretion.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a feature board (posts and votes); your consent for the nickname credit, the email and the gift address. Where: Cloudflare, in a separate database restricted to the EU. Delete: in the app, Community › Delete my posts and votes (this also removes any email or gift address), or email us.
Changes
If we change this notice we'll update the version and date above. We won't use your address for anything new without asking you again.
